Find answers to common questions about therapy, my approach, and how we can work together.
Psychosynthesis is an integrative and holistic form of psychotherapy founded by Roberto Assagioli, an Italian psychiatrist and contemporary of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. Like Freud, Assagioli recognised the importance of exploring the unconscious — the "basement" of the mind where hidden feelings and past experiences live. But he also believed therapy should go further. Psychosynthesis adds another dimension by focusing on the Higher Self — our capacity for will, meaning, purpose, spirituality, and growth.
This approach emphasises bringing together both the conscious and unconscious aspects of the mind to create harmony and support personal growth and self-realisation. It is particularly effective for those dealing with deep-seated trauma, existential questions, or everyday challenges. Whether you are healing from past wounds, navigating life's difficulties, or exploring a deeper sense of purpose, psychosynthesis offers a compassionate and effective framework for healing.

Each session lasts 60 minutes and usually takes place weekly at the same time and day. This consistency helps create a stable and supportive therapeutic relationship.
I offer a variety of therapy formats to suit your needs:
- In-person therapy – in my comfortable therapy room.
- Online therapy – via secure video call.
- Walking therapy – walking in nature for a more active, reflective session.
- Phone therapy – convenient support over the phone.
- Home visits – for clients with disabilities or mobility challenges, within a 3-mile radius of my premises. Please note there is a small additional charge to cover travel expenses.
Yes. Your privacy and trust are of the utmost importance to me, and I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality in our work together. Our sessions are a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space to explore the challenges you are facing.
- All our sessions are strictly confidential
- Your personal information and the content of our discussions remain private
- I adhere to rigorous ethical guidelines to protect your privacy
The only exception would be in situations, for example where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself that would endanger your life, or the life of others. In these circumstances, I may be required to inform the appropriate services or professionals to ensure safety. If this ever became necessary, I would always aim to discuss it with you first.
As part of my professional development and to ensure the best quality of care for you, I participate in required supervision. However, please note that:
- This supervision process is completely anonymous
- No names or identifying details are ever shared with the supervisor
- Your privacy remains fully protected
You are welcome to have just one single session, especially if you want focused support — I am trained in single session therapy. However, I usually recommend at least six sessions to gain more benefit. For deeper issues, sessions can be ongoing, with progress reviewed every six sessions so we can see where you are in the process.
My therapy room is up one flight of stairs, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. To make support more accessible, I offer home visits within a 3-mile radius, with a small additional charge for travel costs.
I offer therapy sessions online through Zoom, making it easy and convenient to access support from your own home. On the day of your appointment, I will send you a secure Zoom link for the time we have agreed.
To join the session, all you will need is:
- A laptop, tablet, or smartphone
- An internet connection
There is no cost to you for using Zoom, and you don't need to create a paid account. If you're unfamiliar with Zoom, I will be happy to guide you through the process so you feel comfortable and confident before we begin.
For online sessions, confidentiality is just as important as in-person therapy. I recommend choosing a private, quiet space where you feel safe to talk openly. Using headphones can also help ensure privacy. The Zoom platform I use is secure, and I take every step to protect your confidentiality.
The first session is an opportunity to talk about what is on your mind and what you would like support with. The session is a safe, welcoming, and non-judgemental space where you can be heard and supported. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with and the focus is on connecting, understanding your story, and exploring how I can help you navigate the challenges you face.
If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, I ask for 72 hours' notice. Where possible, I will always try to offer you an alternative time or day. Cancellations with less than 72 hours' notice may be charged in full.
Yes, you can choose to end therapy at any time. It is usually helpful to talk about the ending together, as this can be an important part of the therapeutic process.
